Assistant Chief Roy Short, Jr.

 

Assistant Chief Roy Short, Jr. started with the fire service in 1992 as a volunteer firefighter with BMOP Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. While with BMOP, A/C Short served as a volunteer firefighter, full-time Firefighter/EMT, Lieutenant, Captain and Vice President of the Corporation. A/C Short remained active as a part-time Ffirefighter/Medic with the department until April, 2002 when BMOP became part of Central Joint Fire-EMS District.

Assistant Chief Short also became a member of Batavia Township Fire and Rescue as a part-time employee in 1996.  In 1999 he was promoted to full-time status and remained a full-time employee of the department until April, 2002 when Batavia Fire and Rescue became part of Central Joint Fire-EMS District. 

A/C Short has been with the District since its inception on April 1, 2002. A/C Short began his career with the District as a Captain and was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2003. A/C Short serves as the Chairperson of the Fire and EMS Chiefs’ Alliance EMS Committee, is a member of the Clermont County Fire Code Committee and the Southwest Ohio Pre-Hospital Care Committee, is an Ohio Continuing Education Instructor in EMS, and a graduate of Lead Clermont 2006.

A/C Short's duties include but are not limited to supervising Station 10 staff (12 Firefighter/Medics), fire inspections, scheduling and quality control of our fire reporting system.

Assistant Chief Robert L. (Bob) Evans

 

Assistant Chief Evans started his fire service career at age 14 as a volunteer with Batavia Life Squad responding to medical calls with his father or on his bicycle. When he turned 18 in 1973, he applied and was accepted to become a volunteer with Batavia Fire Department. Batavia Fire Department later became Batavia Fire and Rescue when the department started its own Emergency Medical Service.
 
In 1986 he started his full-time career by becoming the second career firefighter hired by Batavia Fire and Rescue, becoming an EMT-I and a graduate of the Ohio Fire Academy in 1987. A/C Evans served with Batavia Fire Rescue as a Firefighter/EMT, Captain, Assistant Chief and two years as Chief, until Central Joint Fire - EMS District was created, giving him almost 40 years of experience and service to the community.
   
Assistant Chief Evans has been with Central Joint Fire – EMS District since its inception in April, 2002 serving as Assistant Chief. He is currently posted at Station 11.  Currently A/C Evans is a certified full-time Firefighter/EMT-I, Fire Inspector and has received training as an Arson Investigator, Fast Water Rescue Instructor and Fire instructor.
 
A/C Evans has been married to his wife, Bonnie, since May of 1977 and has one daughter, Randi Kaye. In his spare time he likes to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles, camp and blacksmith. He is currently President of Monroe Grange 2018 and a member of the Grassy Run Historical Arts Committee which portraits the life of a pioneer in the late 1700s to early 1800s.
