History of the Central Joint Fire - EMS District

In November of 2001 the voters of Batavia Township and Batavia Village were asked to vote on the issue of creating a Joint Fire District.  Ohio Revised Code Section 505.375 allows for the creation of such Districts. The issue asked for voter support to form Central Joint Fire - EMS District and with overwelming majority the District was created.  Central Joint Fire - EMS District became official on January 1st, 2002.

Prior to the District's inception, northern Batavia Township and the Village of Batavia were protected by Batavia Township Fire and Rescue
Department.    Southern Batavia Township was covered by BMOP Volunteer Fire Company.

Currently all of Batavia Township and Batavia Village is protected by Central Joint Fire - EMS District. The District is one of the busiest fire
departments in Clermont County responding to over 3,600 calls for service each year.
